Language of hate

Language of hate

Hate is dangerous and toxic, it can choke a society to destruction. This is not an African problem; it’s now a common trend around the world. Governments are on their toes, civil organizations, TV stations, social media platforms are all reviewing policies in the quest to cub hate speech.

It will be very stupid for a continent battling the influence of local terrorism and ethnic unrest endlessly, to remain indifferent towards "hate speech". While people reserve the choice to love or loathe others, such feelings should never materialize into a hate or violence campaign against anyone. There is opposition campaign; there is criticism; and there is hate speech. These terms don't overlap at all.

We have our diversity and the entire world is edging towards reasonable democratic system. If things aren't done right by you, simply explore the proper channels of agitation. It is quite contradictory to employ undemocratic tools such as hate campaign and violence to whip up petty sentiments, in the bid to uphold freedom and human right.

The fight against "hate speech" is not to suppress freedom or rights. Rather, the outcome will ensure that the society remain sane and stable enough for us to enjoy our freedom and rights.
